In Flames are pioneers of the Swedish approach to melodic death metal. They always combined fast parts and general aggression with outstanding heavy metal patents, but they never stopped there. The Scandinavians experimented with metalcore, and alternative music as well… And yet, they are still themselves.
Songs like “Only for the Weak,” “Jotun,” and “Pinball Map” are evergreens of melodic death metal, and In Flames wrote a whole lot of similar hits before and after. The Swedes are masters in their craft, and in addition, the band that always searched and never recorded two of the same records.
