Kury is one of the most original and unconventional bands on the Polish alternative scene, emerging from the yassmovement, an experimental blend of jazz, rock, and avant–garde. Founded in June 1992 by Ryszard “Tymon” Tymański(bass, vocals), initially as a duo with Jacek Olter (drums) and Piotr Pawlak (guitar)
The breakthrough album in Kora’s career was P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S., released in 1998, which won a Fryderyk in thecategory of Alternative Album of the Year and is considered one of the most important releases of the 1990s in Poland. The album was reissued in 2023 by S7 Records from Gdynia, and the title tracks, such as “Jesienna deprecha” and “Niemam jaj,” have become a permanent part of the canon of Polish independent music.
