Juno Reactor

9 MARCH 2014 - JUNO REACTOR /UK/

Juno Reactor, comprising Ben Watkins and Mike Maguire, was formed in 1990.Their music is described as psychedelic and goa trance genres.

The band is renowned for its vivid performances, during which bands and musicians collaborating with Junoreactor perform live alongside. The line-up of collaborating artists is not fixed and undergoes continuous changes. That line-up has included such musicians as: Mabi Thobejane (percussionist), Amampondo (South African band), Eduardo Niebla, Steve Stevens, Greg Ellis, Taz Alexander, Ghetto Priest and Yasmin Levy.

Music of the band is a blend of electronic, instrumental and symphonic music performed alongside a chorus and exotic vocals. The band combine psychedelic and goa trance with world and classical music. An album ‘Transmissions’ , released in 1993, is considered to be the first fully goa trance release. It became a paragon for other musicians creating that music style. The band composed or contributed to soundtracks to films such as: the Matrix Reloaded, the Matrix Revolutions, Brave Story, Once upon a time in Mexico, Mortal Combat, Texhnolyze.

This time, there will be Indian dancers instead of African ones. The present line-up of the band includes the founder, Ben Watkins (composer of music to Matrix, Mortal Combat, Once upon a time in Mexico), a percussionist, Budgie (ex- Siouxie & the Banshees, the Creatures), Japanese guitarist, Sugizo.
